The story of Corochinato: a family tradition

A legacy born between Piedmont and Liguria

Against the backdrop of the Piedmontese hills and the fragrances of the Ligurian coast, a family story spanning the ages unfolds. It begins in Vercelli in the early 1900s. In the 1930s, the Allara family moved to Genoa, specifically to the Cornigliano neighbourhood.

Then, in the 1960s, they moved to Genova Pra’, a place that would become the beating heart of their business. A few years later, they opened a wine shop that became a reference point for fine wine lovers. Among the sparkling wines, champagnes, liqueurs, grappas and food and wine products, one authentic gem stands out: Corochinato, affectionately known as 'L'Asinello' (the donkey) due to the design on the label.

Its story is one of comebacks, popular legends and everyday authenticity. From its humble beginnings in local wine shops to becoming part of the aperitif ritual, each stage of its journey reflects the growth of both the product and the city. Corochinato links the past and the present with a simple gesture: raising a glass and recognising oneself in it. The donkey label becomes a symbol of real, lived-in Liguria, to be enjoyed and remembered.

The iconic wine of Genoese aperitifs

Known for generations as "L’Asinello," Corochinato has its roots deep in the ancient city of Genoa. Its label tells a legend; its popularity speaks of local customs, neighborhood gatherings, and everyday gestures that have become tradition.

Even today, Corochinato remains woven into the cultural and urban fabric of Genoa, La Superba—a bond renewed with every toast, among those discovering it for the first time and those who have always cherished it. More than just a beverage, it is bottled memory, a living tradition walking hand in hand with the city where it was born.
